Vacation Bible School 2017

Thanks to everyone from Epiphany Lutheran Church, Congregación El Buen Samaritano, and Iglesia Reformada Missionera En Christo who helped make Vacation Bible School, August 1, 2, and 3, 2017 a huge success.  We learned that God takes care of us always through the Bible stories of the Baby Moses, Ruth and Naomi, and Daniel and the Lion's Den.

In addition to the Bible stories, we had singing, games, snacks, and crafts; twenty-nine children (and two toddlers) participated in the fun and learning during the week.

We learned to sing "Jesus Loves Me" in Spanish--"Cristo Me Ama" and in American Sign Language. We sang "Bringing in the Sheaves" while collecting "grain" from the floor of the Fellowship Hall and tying several into sheaves. We floated the Baby Moses in a swimming pool of "bulrushes."  We sang other songs, including "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands."

The children had a lot of fun with water balloons and other water games; Charlie was a favorite target for the water balloons.  The children spent time playing in our playground. We were fortunate to have such nice weather furing the days that we had Vacation Bible School--we were able to have the games outside all three days.

The snacks included crackers, grapes, oranges, carrots, cheese sticks, and sandwiches.

Tuesday's craft was making a basket for the baby Moses--it included a baby in the basket.  Wednesday the children made a stalk of grain from a gold ribbon with the following words: "Please let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves" Ruth 2:7. On Thursday, the children made an ornament with their picture and a picture of Daniel and the Lions to remind them that God is always watching over them and taking care of them.

We ended on the last day by having an ice cream party to which we invited all the parents and helpers.  The younger helpers went bowling together after VBS.
